Fished CFF #4 with Mr. Wiskers and let me tell you, this guy is a genius on the river. I thought I knew the river, and I do know a very limited area, but Michael has it down to a true science. He and I discussed a plan Friday evening and it was perfect. The only thing that failed was the execution. We caught fish on everything from topwater to pig/jig to tubes to a few on texas rig. We caught largemouth, spots, smallies, blue cats, channel cats, and the nuisance goggle eyes.
Late in the morning I lost a monster smallie Michael had put me on that will give me nightmares for a few days. I hooked her a long way from the boat and watched her somersault into the air 2-3 times before we thought we were going to add her to our collection, and enhance our chance of winning. Instead, she came by the boat pulling drag, then gave one last lunge that snapped the light line on the drop shot rig. Landing this fish would have added 2-3 pounds to your weight and bumped us into double digits. We also lost a few other chances, with a big largemouth jumping over one of Michael's topwaters and a few LMs coming unbuttoned early on.
Good advice; if Michael asks you to go fishing, don't postpone going. You will learn more than you can imagine, and have a great time. We had discussed taking a fishing trip for over three years and it seemed like I was always busy. After Satuday I wish I had gone sooner and we had landed a few ore of those big fish. Thanks Wiskers!
