CALLING ALL OUTDOORS ENTHUSIASTS: CONNECTICUT LAKES FOREST

CONCORD, N.H. -- A public information session on the future of the Connecticut Lakes Headwaters Working Forest Recreation Program will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2006, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at N.H. Fish and Game, Hazen Drive in Concord.The New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation will conduct the information session to acquaint the public with the range of alternatives for public access, recreation, and road management on the Connecticut Lakes Timber Company's Conservation Easement Area in Pittsburg, Stewartstown, and Clarksville. The proposed alternatives for the recreational plan cover a variety of uses on the forest property, including non-motorized and motorized recreation.Information packets and response forms will be provided at the meeting. They are also available for download at: http://www.nhparks.state.nh.us/ParksPages/CLHWF/CLHWFplanInfoPkt.html. Recreational users of the forest are encouraged to attend the information session, and to review and comment on the range of alternatives in the packet.Comment forms may be handed in at Thursday's public information session, or returned by mail or e-mail by November 30, 2006. The public will have one last opportunity to review and comment on the plan when a draft is released in early 2007. The Division of Parks and Recreation manages the public access and recreation on 142,400 acres of commercial forest lands owned by the Connecticut Lakes Timber Company through the Connecticut Lakes Headwaters Working Forest Recreation Program. The Division is part of the Department of Resources and Economic Development and manages 72 state parks, campgrounds, historic sites, trails, waysides and natural areas.
