3 Tips To Catch More Trout

By tkugler at Thu, 2008-10-02 07:17 |

As trout anglers, we all want to catch more trout, right? Well, in this article I'm going to reveal 3 tips that will help almost anyone catch more trout on their next fishing excursion. More than 20 years ago I had the pleasure of knowing (and learning from) a man I've always considered to be a trout fishing master. This man was able to catch trophy trout out of rivers and streams that other anglers didn't believe trout of that size swam in. He also caught "normal" sized trout at a very high rate.

This man taught me these 3 tips which have enabled me to be a much more effective trout angler. They will do the same for you as soon as you implement them. As trout anglers we should always be trying to increase our knowledge base in order to become better angler. This article will help you with that. Then it's up to you to go out and spend as much time on the water as you can. There are very few things that will help you as much as practice.

That being said, let's get down to the business of the 3 tips that will help you catch more trout, shall we?

  1. Pay Attention To Your Hands - This might sound strange, but the scents on your hands transfer to your bait, and if those scents are unnatural, you will get many less bites from fish like trout. Trout have a very sensitive sense of smell. This is why paying attention to your hands and more importantly eliminating any unnatural odors on your hands is so important. A great tip is to grab a handful of grass or dirt and rub it into your hands before baiting up. This will eliminate any unnatural scents that might be present on your hands.
  2. Where Polarized Sunglasses - Wearing a quality pair of polarized sunglasses is of the utmost importance to the serious trout angler. They allow you to see your line much better, and even see the trout before and during the fight. I used to think this was BS, but then I realized that it was because I had always purchased cheap polarized sunglasses (under $25)! As soon as I purchased a pair of quality polarized sun glasses, I realized what all the fuss was about. Wear a quality pair of polarized sunglasses whenever you're trout fishing.
  3. Understand The Weather & Moon - This tip is also quite simple. The weather and moon play a very large role in whether or not you catch fish. This is why understanding this phenomenon is of such value to anglers. Learn how the weather and moon affect trout, and you will become much more successful.

Use one or all three of these simple tips sooner, rather than later. They are all amazingly effective and will help anyone catch more trout. How am I so sure of this? Simply because I've been using them all for more than 20 years and know how effective they are.
