August Nature Programs Announced for Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park
Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State is offering a variety of naturalist interpretative programs during August. Park visitors can choose from 14 different programs each week.
Programs include a bear den hike, astronomy, a gray wolf hike, Giants of the North Evening, aquatic insect hike, an off-trail hike into the Little Union River Gorge, and a hike to an 1880s wilderness copper mining community.
Program times change throughout the month, so visitors are advised to visit the Porcupine Mountains page on the Department of Natural Resources Web site at www.mi.gov/porkies, and then click on the link for the Wilderness Visitor Center.
For more information on the programs, visitors can also call the Park Interpreter Robert Wild at the Visitor Center at 906-885-5206.
