Brownstown, Michigan - The Team of Tom Trombly of Romulus, Michigan, and Mike Trombly of Perrysburg, Ohio, won the Stratos Owners' Tournament Trail event on Lake Erie near Brownstown, Michigan where the anglers earned $2,844 for their efforts. The team also won the big bass award on day two with a 5-pound, 3-ounce largemouth earning them an additional $87. The team also netted another $500 plus a Lowrance LMS-480 combo sonar/GPS mapping unit for meeting Lowrance contingency requirements.

Trombly and Trombly's two-day winning catch of 10 bass weighed 41 pounds, 15 ounces. The team caught their bass on tubes and drop-shot rigs fishing the Canadian Shore and Pelee area.

Rounding out the top three teams were Jose Garza of Melvindale, Mich., and Victor Cerabone of Waterford, Mich. (10 bass, 40 pounds, 14 ounces, $1,423) and Ron Vangordon of Hartland, Mich., and George Terrien of Warren, Mich., (10 bass, 38 pounds, 15 ounces, 1,139).

The next Stratos Owners' Tournament Trail event will be the Stratos World Championship on Old Hickory Lake near Gallatin, Tennessee, Oct. 6-7.

The top 35 teams from the Lake Seminole, Lake Ouachita, Santee Cooper Lakes and Lake Erie regionals as well as the top 20 teams from the California Delta and the top 10 teams from the Bay of Quinte regional will be invited to the 2006 Stratos Owners' Championship held Oct. 6-7 on Old Hickory Lake in Gallatin, Tenn. The winning team from each of the stateside regionals will also advance to the 2007 $2 million, no-entry-fee Forrest Wood Cup where they will compete in the Co-angler Division.

Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State is offering a variety of naturalist interpretative programs during August. Park visitors can choose from 14 different programs each week.
Programs include a bear den hike, astronomy, a gray wolf hike, Giants of the North Evening, aquatic insect hike, an off-trail hike into the Little Union River Gorge, and a hike to an 1880s wilderness copper mining community.
Program times change throughout the month, so visitors are advised to visit the Porcupine Mountains page on the Department of Natural Resources Web site at www.mi.gov/porkies, and then click on the link for the Wilderness Visitor Center.
